WHAT CAN AN OMFS TREAT?

TMJ Disorder

The TMJ is a complex joint that allows for jaw movement. Disorders of this joint can cause pain, clicking, popping, and limited jaw function.

Dental Implants

Dental implants provide a stable and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. They are surgically placed into the jawbone, where they fuse with the bone to provide a secure foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are often impacted, meaning they are trapped beneath the gums or bone. This can lead to pain, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth..

Jaw Corrective Surgery

This surgery aims to correct skeletal discrepancies between the upper and lower jaws. These discrepancies can lead to difficulties with chewing, speaking, and breathing, as well as facial asymmetry.

Facial Trauma

Facial fractures can be complex, involving multiple bones and soft tissues. OMFS surgeons possess the specialized knowledge to precisely realign fractured bones, minimizing long-term complications.

Bone Grafting

If the jawbone has resorbed (shrunk) due to tooth loss or other factors, bone grafting can create a solid foundation for implant placement. It can be used to repair bone defects caused by trauma.
